Security Service Company, Inc., Fleetwood, Acquires Four Star Electronic Security, Inc., Hamburg
(Fleetwood, Pa., August 17, 2012) — Security Service Company of Fleetwood, Pa. announced today that it has acquired the assets of Four Star Electronic Security, a residential and commercial security provider based in Hamburg, Pa.
The Hamburg firm has served hundreds of homeowners and businesses in Berks County and nearby counties for many years with alarm monitoring, service and installation.
Four Star President Merrill Arndt said in a statement to his customers that the new ownership “will maintain the excellent service and affordability we’ve always provided, while also bringing a range of new technological options.”

Among the new services that will be available to former Four Star customers:

Security Service Company Inc. Receives Five Diamond Certification
(Fleetwood, Pa., Oct. 3, 2012)—Security Service Company Inc., Fleetwood, Pa., has earned the prestigious Five Diamond Certification from the Central Station Alarm Association, a leading security trade group.
Certification demonstrates that 100 percent of SSC’s central station operators have passed the CSAA Central Station On-Line Operator Training Course. This course covers virtually all phases of central station communications with customers, law enforcement, fire and emergency services communications centers. This critical area of communications is the life-saving link between residential or business properties and law enforcement, fire and emergency services.
In order to achieve company-wide certification, every operator must have not only passed the course, but also demonstrated:
- proficiency in alarm verification, which helps reduce false alarms.
- proficiency in communications with Public Service Answering Points, such as Emergency 911 centers.
- knowledge of electronic communications equipment, including radio.
- an understanding of the codes and standards of such organizations as Underwriters Laboratories, Factory Mutual, the National Fire Protection Association and others.
- proficiency in the area of preparedness in many emergency situations.
In addition, Five Diamond companies have demonstrated an exceptional degree of responsibility to local communities and customers, investing time, money and commitment in 100-percent quality operator training. Of about 2,700 central stations in the United States, fewer than 150 have achieved Five Diamond Certified status.
